OPPORTUNITY:
In 2016, MAC Paving Ltd alongside Hobson Porter was commissioned to extend and improve the facilities of Woodford Leisure Centre as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment. As part of the refurbishment, MAC Paving Ltd was hired to improve and extend the paving and street furniture of the car park for the leisure centre, ensuring the surface was durable and fit for purpose.
SOLUTION:
Working with the O’Boyle Brothers Ltd, this was a fast and complex project with an extremely demanding project timeline. Working under a high amount of pressure, MAC Paving Ltd worked 7 days a week with a team of 11 labourers. The labour was extended for overtime for 6-7 weeks to ensure that the project was completed to time and that delays were minimal. MAC Paving Ltd used Saxon slabs to ensure a cost-effective and quality assured solution across 800m2 and 2000m2 of car parking base.
OUTCOME:
This is a multi-million pound project to extend and improve facilities at Woodford Leisure Centre, one of Hull’s largest local authority recreational centres, located on Holderness Road.
Supporting Hobson & Porter, as the main building contractor, who are creating a new front elevation to the building and an extension to house a new reception area, a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool and a 10-metre beginners’ pool.
The project also includes new sauna and steam facilities, improved changing rooms, a new café and a bigger and better car park. In the early part of 2017, the scope of works was extended to include replacing the roof of the existing building.
