OPPORTUNITY:
MAC Paving Ltd is the chosen paving supplier for Aldi’s distribution stores across the UK. As one of Europe’s leading grocers, Aldi has over 10000 stores worldwide with over 720 stores in the UK. Since 2016, Aldi has aimed to expand its distribution centres across the UK to both consolidate and improve its supply chain network across the nation. Working alongside the Moortown Group, MAC Paving Ltd offered its services for Aldi’s three new distribution centres – working to the same specification – in Cardiff, Isle of Sheppey and Aldi’s largest distribution centre in Nottingham.
OUTCOME / SOLUTION:
Working to a global specification of high quality, this was a gigantic contract on a streamlined budget that required working alongside multiple stakeholders and contractors across the site. MAC Paving Ltd delivered over one mile of running kerbs as well as 1500m2 of block paving across each distribution centre. MAC Paving Ltd worked with autonomy, providing car park finishing for office staff and developing the street furniture of the site, including but not limited to bollards, lighting, manholes and infields to ensure the site is aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose. The core of the paving was block paving that was accompanied with a low bearing solution to integrate seamlessly with the architect’s and civil engineer’s vision for the building.
