Role Overview: As a Procurement Specialist, you will be a key element in procurement strategies and responsible for further developing the sustainable growth of the business.

Role Requirements: Essential to have at least 5 years proven experience in procurement within the construction industry. Ideally CIPS qualified with a Full UK driving license and flexibility to travel at short-notice essential.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

General Responsibilities – ALL Staff

Role Responsibilities

The Procurement Specialist role that is responsible for overseeing the procurement and supplier interface for all company projects. The primary focus will be to ensure that materials, equipment and services are procured within budget, delivered on-time and to the required quality standards. The role requires close working with operations, commercial, project managers, supply chain and contractors. The Procurement Specialist must also generate KPI information in order to drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain and stock management.

Key Tasks for Role

Procurement Management

  • Source and purchase materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for civil engineering projects in an efficient and economical manner.
  • Maintain the businesses procurement systems and interfaces.
  • Track deliveries are on schedule and ensure they will meet the needs of the business.
  • Maintain accurate inventory information across all sites.

Contract Management

  • Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure full compliance with the contractual obligations of the project and identify any potential risks or deviations in advance.
  • Provide assistance to project teams on supplier contract terms and conditions.

Cost Control

  • Monitor and manage procurement budgets in coordination with the commercial and project teams.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with commercial and project managers for all phases of a project.
  • Implement cost control initiatives and proactively identify opportunities for cost savings.

Order Processing

  • Raise and manage purchase and receipting of all orders, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to sites.

Forecasting & Planning

  • Anticipate project requirements and manage supply chain logistics to meet the business and project needs, avoiding and managing delays.

Market Research

  • Stay current and aware of material trends, global availability, changing lead times, and potential alternative supply options.

Compliance

  • Ensure all purchases meet customer, industry, and health & safety standards. Ensure provenance of materials origin and manage CoC records.
  • Provide evidence that supply chain meets ethical and environmental standards.
  • Actively support the implementation and ongoing accreditation of industry standards, including ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015.

Supplier Management

  • Maintain accurate procurement records including pricing, supplier performance, and order tracking.
  • Approve and validate primary suppliers and subcontractors systematically.
  • Manage and undertake supplier audits both remotely and at vendor sites as required.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers and contractors.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with frequent visits to supplier and project sites.
  • May require occasional travel to meet with clients or attend industry and supplier events.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines and customer/supplier meetings.

Other Duties

Due to the size and nature of the business all members of staff may from time to time be involved in activities in addition to those specified above as required for the effective operation of the business.

LOCATION:
  • Lincoln, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.

 

  • With national travel to customer and supplier sites as required.
  • May require overnight travel.
SALARY:
  • £35,000 – £45,000 per annum.
  • Project related bonus scheme available.
