SmartParc Plot 9, – Derby - United Kingdom

OPPORTUNITY:

MAC Group Ltd was awarded a multiple package contract on Plot 9 at the major world-class SmartParc facility near Derby. The 155 acre development is a high-tech manufacturing and distribution campus that is designed to meet the sustainability challenges of the future. The flagship site is home to the first low-carbon food manufacturing community that offers a shared distribution and services hub to reduce costs and improve sustainability. The opportunity continued MAC Group Ltd’s association with the park, while allowing the business to provide a complete supply and build service.

The Vision Behind SmartParc

SmartParc is not just a business park—it’s a collaborative ecosystem for the food industry. The campus features,

  • Flexible units ranging from 3,500 sq ft starter spaces to 400,000 sq ft manufacturing facilities.
  • A Food Manufacturing Technology Centre of Excellence, supporting research, training, and career development.
  • Shared services and a central distribution hub to reduce food miles and improve supply chain efficiency.
SOLUTION:

The multiple package award included the supply and installation of the following elements.

The works to clear and remediate the site were completed by others prior to MAC Group Ltd undertaking their contracted works.

This project showcased the current MAC Group Ltd’s capabilities through the supply of Labour, Materials and Plant. We provided Supervision and Engineering presence on site throughout the project. MAC Group Ltd had approximately 50 operatives on site at any one time. MAC Group utilised both local and national materials suppliers during the project which contributed significantly to the local economy. The site presented the need for significant ground water management throughout. Despite this, the project was completed on-time and on budget. The end-user made a number of design changes throughout the programme, these were all managed and incorporated without affecting the overall project timelines.
